Island

from Spook Frequency by Villareal

/

about

'Island' is another of my personal favourite Villareal songs although i don't think we've EVER played it live! I could be wrong, but it certainly hasn't been in the set since 2005! It was meant to fuse The Strokes, Teenage Fanclub and Sebadoh in one swirling indie soup. Did we succeed..?
Anyway, engineer Rowland Prytherch did a good job on this one. Thanks Rowland.

lyrics

Wake with the sun in my eyes
Late once again, no surprise
You say i disappear until the coast is clear
On an island

Ran from the race rest assured
Made my escape washed ashore
So I disappeared until the coast was clear
I'm an island

Chorus

I used to think that the world was listening to me
And as it span it revolved around me, and my dreams
But now I'm not so sure

Wake with the sun in my eyes
Planned my escape my demise
And it's just like solitaire cos no one else is there
On an island

Repeat Chorus

You can't remain an island
You cannot face the future on your own...on your own

You're on your own
