Sleeping Pills

from Blue Snakes by Villareal

about

'Sleeping Pills' is another fave of mine, and it includes a guitar solo that is pretty competent by my poor standards. It's funny because there is a dark tone to this album but it was recorded in tranquil and upbeat settings. Let me set the scene..
Alex, Luke (both on loan at the time from Brighton-rockers Turncoat) pitched tents in the fields in Steventon Oxford (in the spot where they have the Truck Festival every year). It was warm, sunny and boozey. We were on a tight schedule, so every time the rhythm section completed another song i'd let them have some more whiskey. By the end of the day we were all fuzzy.

lyrics

Bought a gun and walked into town
i didn't know that they'd shut it all down and moved on...

Days become years
Hills have eyes, walls have ears
As the night shivers down
Shadows cast make no sound
And i'm lost to the world (that) never cared never heard

Today..

Used to have that look in my eye
Can't see it now cos I'm always crying and it's gone
Gone, gone, gone
Lost my mind I don't know how to feel
Walking round like I'm on sleeping pills and it's wrong
Wrong, wrong wrong
I got it wrong

Lights shiver down
Shadows cast make no sound
As the ghost on the stairs, trips me up unawares
And I'm lost to a world never cared, never heard

Today...

I bought a gun and I walked into town
I didn't know that they'd shut it all down and moved on
Took my place at the back of the line
Can i just say I never knew what to say so i lied

It's wrong, it's wrong

I got it wrong
