    'Unravelling' is Villareal's fourth studio album and was originally released in 2013. The band decided to follow their heart and delve into a truly late night experience. Citing Talk Talk, David Sylvian and Wilco as inspirations the songs were pieced toggether in various late night recording sessions with contributors asked to add parts with only the most basic of musical information!

'Pale Winter Sun' was written at the same time as the opening two songs on 'Unravelling'. Indeed, they all fit together and for a while I was going to have them as one long piece to introduce the album. But in the end that didn't happen. I remember being amazed when the whistling sample fitted eerily into the middle section of this song. Probably the most 'Neil Young' track on the record, and one that I am very proud of.
Thanks to Kate Brigden for some beautiful trumpet parts. And to Ali, who was bribed into digging out his flute...
