Hey Day

from Blue Snakes by Villareal

/

about

'Hey Day' is written about my favorite female actress Ms. Barbara Harris. The lyrics are generally taken from the titles of some of the films she starred in over the years. That's her voice you can hear on the track.
I wrote Ms. Harris a letter about this song, including a copy of the CD, but never heard back.

lyrics

Took a room at the Plaza suite beside the family plot
Gonna drive out to Nashville soon, Hollywood forgot...

Chorus

You never strayed far from home
Stayed cool when they picked at your bones
It's sad-life runs away with the prize
But genius is measured by time

I hear you're keeping mixed company with at thousand clowns
Harry Kellerman's saying things-it's all over town

Repeat Chorus

You looked good, you were fine
I bet you could turn water to wine
I tell friends all the time
Your heyday '71-'79

Hitching down a dead end road
Nice girls they don't explode

Nice girls don't explode
