Banana Skins

from Spook Frequency by Villareal

/

about

'Banana Skins' was the result of my buying a secondhand Eko acoustic guitar. I took the lovely thing home (2003) and within minutes this song was written.
Since then nearly every song I've written for Villareal (or Lightning Dept) has started life on this guitar. Sice from The Boo Radleys liked this one as well. Look out for a rare violin break from Chaz Newman from Turncoat.

lyrics

I used to think that when you smiled
I got high, but I cried and cried
Cos you could never save my life

i used to think that banana skins could get me high
So I tried and tried
But they would never change my life
No they could never change my life

I used to think I was being tailed
When i got high i wondered why
Shadows used to rule my life

But now i find I don't think so much
I'm out of touch with all that stuff
Knowing I could never win
I'm giving up and giving in

I used to think that when you smiled I got high
But i cried and cried cos you could never save my life

And now i find i don't think so much
I'm out of touch with all that stuff
Knowing i could never win
i'm slipping on banana skins
