'Unravelling' is Villareal's fourth studio album and was originally released in 2013. The band decided to follow their heart and delve into a truly late night experience. Citing Talk Talk, David Sylvian and Wilco as inspirations the songs were pieced toggether in various late night recording sessions with contributors asked to add parts with only the most basic of musical information!

US tastemakers DIVIDE AND CONQUER loved the album and rated it 4.3/5, read the review by following the link below:

1.
Orange Host 02:33
Start at the end of the book It takes too long to work out who are the crooks The host is a flame in the night Guiding me away from the rocks and the tide Start at the end of the line In a station closed since the dawning of time My face fallen into the sea Shows itself again in a river downstream (Words & Music Simon Parker)
2.
New Miracles 05:01
Lost in a box for 90 days My soul has left the ground again And should you need someone to blame The world/birds look beautiful today Flags are waving in the wind it's time to change my side again Colour bleeds in kodachrome words will leave you all alone And if I force a smile I'll keep the devil down But I've lost more than I ever found Chorus Waiting for new miracles To find their way home Waiting for new miracles That day the sentiment expired we threw it all into the fire We lost the keepsakes and the phone But worse we lost the way back home And now the world is lit by light bulbs in the sky I'll sit and count them all tonight I smile just to keep the devil down But I've lost more than I'll ever found Repeat Chorus Dropped like a coin into the sea Darkness is closing in on me Waiting for... (Words & Music Simon Parker)
3.
There are bodies in the water there are souls upon the shore But in houses of the future you won't find what you're looking for There are bodies in the water upon the jawline of this coast And if it wasn't for my missed fortune I'd be more than just your ghost There are bodies in the water there is motion in your heart But if you ever lose your way again you'll be dealing with the past There are bodies in the water submerged just out of view And as we dream of new horizons we'll find its us taht it happens to There are bodies in the water and in the windows of your soul The price for new technology? Our identities got sold Bodies... (Words & Music Simon Parker)
4.
Low cloud revisits Here I stand bearing platitudes Nobody looks up anymore And all I know will be washed away in good time Slow down the minutes How could you breathe at that altitude? And when your bones they hit the ground Did all you know get washed away forever? Chorus It's over now Wood smoke delivers upon the land and into the sea We're nothing more than visitors And all we know will be washed away forever Repeat Chorus I never got the chance to tell you how I feel (Words & Music Simon Parker)
5.
Sirens 05:09
Throw your shoes into the sea Show begins don't be late Follow me big mistake Words are blind they waste my time Everyone stands alone in their heart spider's go Chorus All this time wasted on your cloud nine Learning to fall apart to the beat of your heart You wear a smile that to the eye Ran the race, came in first But in truth did your worst The world moved on and proved us wrong So set sail go remote Leave this land leave the boat... Repeat Chorus Warning signs those sirens that scream all night Follow the old black line back to the start (Four hundred day July appearing over night/If I can't change your mind well maybe I'll change mine) I'm hearing voices I'm hearing sirens... (Words & Music Simon Parker)
6.
I was always so certain that I would make it back I wasted more than these words on that Another sainted dominion that we will never see You wasted all of those years on me Chorus Lights go down, I'm still earthbound Shaken by the passing of time No second chance I'm in the dark Searching for the keys to my mind This is where the trail stops now I can't make it back I use to follow the North Star home I think i started a landslide that left me on my own Now i cant tread where the tree ghosts go Repeat Chorus The fuel-line split my heart got hit Lying in the wreck of my life Now all those things those might have beens They've vanished for the rest of all time Vanished... (Words & Music Simon Parker)
7.
Fail safe, my hand shakes at the door you never should open I returned to get burned by the last of the pale winter sun Delete me, completely don't dance with the stationary idle The ant king is basking in the last of the pale winter sun His flight path is worn Your bible got torn Chorus Time hold out its hand which snaps like a branch We are unravelling Days blur into one I have begun Completely unravelling A new dream to change team And to feel something good has begun A strange sight at first light In the last of the pale winter sun My memory is worn Your patience got torn Repeat Chorus Time holds out its hand which snaps like a branch We are unravelling Days haunt like a ghost, but I'm going for broke Curtail this unravelling... (Words & Music Simon Parker)
8.
If I close my eyes they won't find us here If I hold my breathe they will disappear Everybody changed that day Everybody moved away I can't land this thing if it still on the ground Even birdmen sing up on Telegraph Hill Everybody changed that day Everybody fades away Everybody changed that day Everybody moved away Everybody changed that day Everybody fades away (Words & Music Simon Parker)
9.
(Taken from the 'Road To Nowhere' biography) It was as if I hadn't really been there at all I'm out there somewhere so find me Summer is dreaming... Things slowed down and we reacquainted with that familiar feeling of dread All of the things that had once been on the horizon were now behind us Despite the fact that some of the bits are almost certainly in the wrong place and others don't seem to fit at all I wouldn't have wanted it any other way Another human shape, I'm out there somewhere so find me Someone is dreaming... The sky was already burning red as we chose our hiding places In the fading twilight waiting to be found Everyone else is leaving now I'm out there somewhere so find me (Words & Music by Simon Parker)
10.
Damaged 04:47
Ocean lay me down My world run aground Ocean lay me down I'm not here today I'm not here today Daylight pass me through My world torn in two Daylight pass me through My before and after Your tears will bring disaster (Words & Music Simon Parker)
11.
Harbouring 04:54
Fortune smiles on me Where the river meets the sea On an elemental day Crows fly south from here There will be nothing more this year So it's time to get alone Walk the golden mile Where I lit up for your smile On illuminated wheels Reflected in a lake Was a half forgotten face A clue t what I'd lost And from that moment it was clear All the doubts they disappeared You must become what you love All these things we've yet to see They are here bathed in silver light All those things we've yet to see They are here tonight they are harbouring And every chord will just play at once As the darkness falls take my curtain call We close our eyes as the years roll past Now I am slowing down we're not built to last And the only thing that makes sense to me Is to leave this path let the moment be Morning will come Morning will call All those things we've yet to see They are here tonight they are harbouring I gave my all I gave my everything (Words & Music Simon Parker)

about

'Unravelling' is Villareal's fourth album, and the most experimental to date. Autumnal strings collide with acoustic guitars, whilst late night found sounds are pushed to the fore to give an eerie sense of displacement. For lovers of forward thinking and pastoral indie, such as Wilco, David Sylvian, Talk Talk and Nick Drake.
